Acupuncture
Acupuncture is an ancient Traditional Chinese Medicine that dates back roughly 2500 years. It is used to prevent and treat various illness and conditions. It involves inserting thin needles into the skin at different depths at various acupuncture points to stimulate a response.
How does Acupuncture work?
Acupuncture works to improve the body’s organ function and stimulate its natural healing process. Acupuncture works with the body’s energy, which in Chinese medicine is called, “Qi” (pronounced “Chee”). This energy flows and circulates throughout the entire body and through specific pathways called meridians. When our energy is obstructed or there is an imbalance within the body (like a river attempting to flow through a dam), the disrupted flow can cause illness, pain or a lack of function in the body. By needling and stimulating acupuncture points along these meridians, it can release the blocked energy and restore the natural physiological processes. Acupuncture can create a sense of well-being and ultimately bring the body back into a state of balance.

Chinese Herbal Medicine
The practice of Chinese Herbal Medicine can be traced back several thousand years, and is now used to treat a range of conditions including: aiding sleep, increasing immunity, decreasing stress, balancing hormones, reducing inflammation, and aiding tissue recovery. The Chinese materia medica contains thousand of plants and minerals, approximately 300 of which are commonly used today. We use granulated herbal extracts, which are taken in powdered form. The granules are the highest quality herbs that have been thoroughly tested for heavy metals, pesticides, and other toxins. Typically herbal medicine is often used in conjunction with Acupuncture in order to increase the effects of both modalities.
